The same is true for cleaning carpet with ammonia. Pour 1 part vinegar and 5 parts warm water into a spray bottle. Ammonia is also effective if you have difficult stains such as ribena or red wine too. There are websites that recommend using ammonia for carpet cleaning but that is not its purpose.
